Deadlines
Accepted contributions will have to send a short paper
(3 to 5 A4 pages) for the Abstracts Book within
May 1st, 2001 by email only to info at nettab dot org.
Type of contributions
The following types of contributions were admitted:
- Posters and oral communications
Posters will be displayed in the foyer of the Advanced Biotechnology
Center. See detailed programme
for mounting and poster session times.
The list of posters is now available.
A limited number of posters will be selected and admitted to the Oral
Communications Session on Friday 18th.
- Demo of clients/servers applications
A demo session will be held on the 18th. A computer room will be
available for demonstrating bioinformatics related network applications
based on CORBA and XML clients and servers.
The list of demonstrated softwares will soon be available.
- Communications from companies
A session will be devoted to the presentation of proprietary softwares
developed by companies.
The list of communications will soon be available.
Topics
Topics of the workshop are the following:

Emerging network standards and their application in the integration
of distributed environments. E.g., CORBA, XML. Related facilities and
services.

New standards, servers, clients and applications in the field of
molecular biology and biotechnology, with emphasis on bioinformatics.
Role of ontologies in biology.

Use of programming languages for the exploitation of the integration
of distributed databases and software: Perl, Java, Python and other
"open source" languages. Software libraries for bioinformatics
applications.

Integrated systems and software, SRS implementations.
